In other words, the vast majority of the electrical energy they consume is converted to light. The same number for incandescent bulbs is only 20 percent. With LEDs, the dispersement of the light is easy to control as well, so spaces that aren’t in use aren’t needlessly lit.
• Long Life: LED bulbs have incredibly long lives – up to 100,000 hours of use. That’s 11 straight years! Therefore, the need to purchase and replace a new bulb is rare – even when used in extremely hot or cold temperatures. Winstar Lighting Solutions points out that these bulbs don’t simply stop working the way old-fashioned bulbs do, either. The light they emit simply gets dimmer over a long duration of time.
• Environmental Safety: Conventional light bulbs contain harmful components, such as mercury. There are no toxic materials in LED lights, however. That means they are fully recyclable. Also, they emit almost no UV emissions. As a result of their long life spans (and their great durability), there is no need to dispose of them frequently. Less waste!
