At Winstar, we know the primary function of LED technology is to save energy, but that isn’t all it’s good for. These innovative solutions provide a lot in the way of comfort, and perhaps even more in terms of beauty. Indeed, the aesthetic value of LED light displays is great. Here are two of our favorite examples:
• The San Francisco Bay Bridge: This bridge is a sight to see even when it isn’t illuminated. Now that LEDs have been installed, however, the nighttime view is breathtaking. The scene, called Bay Lights, was designed by Leo Villareal. Initially intended to be a two-year display, the powers that be have decided to keep it in place permanently. It’s all thanks to more than four miles of cable, 75,000 LEDs, and a cloud-based control platform.
• Charlotte Rail Trail LED Lighting: On the other side of the country, Duke Energy has collaborated with Charlotte Center City Partners to install an LED display along the Charlotte Rail Trail. It covers almost five miles and consists of 12 floodlights, which can rotate 360 degrees and produce 16,000 colors. We at Winstar were also impressed to learn that the system is programmed with 13 scenes that will be changed to celebrate special events and holidays.
We hope you have the opportunity to check out one or both of these Winstar favorites!
