At Winstar, we stay on top of the latest news in the world of energy. Recently, we learned that mayors from all over the nation discussed how they are improving their cities to meet various goals.
They reported survey results at the Conference of Mayors event. It was the 84th Winter Meeting, which took place in Washington D.C. The mayors pointed to the value of solar, LED, and efficient building. They believe these options offer the most promise for reducing energy use and emissions. More than 175 mayors gave their input.
At Winstar, we note that these reports reflect the points in the Mayors’ Compact for a Better America. In this plan, the mayors make a plea to the presidential candidates as well as Congress to support their efforts.
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is the Conference president and mayor of Baltimore. She said, “With national elections upon us, candidates can learn from the strong leadership of mayors who are offering solutions to our national challenges, such as energy independence and climate protection, in their work to deploy new energy technologies.”
The mayors’ survey was supported by Philips Lighting Americas. Amy Huntington, the company’s president, offered her insights. She stated, “This year’s survey shows that mayors across the country continue to lead the charge in adopting energy efficient LED lighting. The survey also confirms their desire for connected technologies that can help realize even greater energy efficiencies…”
We at Winstar can’t wait to see all the Conference of Mayors achieves in the world of energy. How do you think they will change the future?
